Hafjell - end of season

BikePosted by Veronica Fri, October 02, 2009 16:13:46
Last weekend Hafjell Bike Park had their official season end weekend. This season they added som new spice to the pot with the two new awesome tracks Rollercoaster and New School. Snorre should be the most attractive man in the bike park building business, I really don't believe there are other places in Europe that have more perfect shaped berms, jumps and alternative of good maintained dh tracks, singletracks and park packed down to one small resort...

A perfect weekend with awesome riding, great weather and nice people. We hooked up and rented a cabin with Rikke, Øystein and Hans Inge, and Hans Inge brought a couple of nice buddies named Hans and Inge... first I thought they were kidding, but really; Hans Inge, Hans and Inge... smiley

Fjørå Singletrack Camp

BikePosted by Veronica Fri, September 11, 2009 14:16:29
This weekend, we and a gang of local riders, arranged our second singletrack camp at our local singletracks by the fjord. Real "topptur" riding; some car shuttling, hiking 300-600m vertical meters and then a decent on bike between 600-1100 vertical meter in steep and technical terrain, with awesome fjord view.. just a normal day for us locals though... smiley

The weekend went great, awesome riding, thrilled riders, barbecue party, music and just lots of fun... Saturday evening, with the full moon spreading glitter all over the fjord in front of us, we showed the riders own shots from the day outside on a rustic boathaous wall... the mood was so perfect, it could almost bring out a tear...smiley

In the ending we gave out some really nice prizes from sponsors for good shots, good effort, and even a bonus for a group of three riders that made one wrong turn and got yelled at of a local farmer...

Update from one of our guests..: ".. fjords in the background, fiddlers in bunad playing in the background, blond cow girls milkin fresh organic milk straight outa freeridin eco mountain cows and german campers smilin and throwin smuggled bratwurst and beer parties for bikers and snow coverd mountain peaks and glaciers hangin above the fjord and total bluebird and giant blueberries all over the place and singletracks paved with nothin but golden brown dirt. Just another ordinary day of ridin at the North West Shore of Norwegian mountainbiking, no wonder I get carried away." (- Not sure what those blueberries contained, but it sure seems like he had fun though...haha!)

Well.. don't ask me.. I was sure we had enough space on the tracks for all riders... blueberries..? Photo: Håvard Melbø

Can't say I've experienced so many happy faces at one time as in this weekend. It for sure feels great to contribute to make a riders day (weekend). It's our second event, and since last year the amount of participants was doubled. It seems already like we have to make an official limit of how many riders we can invite next year to our grass root event...

More shots, check out our gallary, and Norways stash minister, who contributed with free Rock'n Roll Lubricate bike wash for our guests (big hug!), even made a great film...

18 crashes in Kongsberg...

BikePosted by Veronica Tue, August 25, 2009 22:48:26
This weekend we were on Utflukt, singletrack event arranged by Terrengsykkel (magazine). I got my first ride on 5 weeks, removed the cast one week ago, but I've been a bit optimistic on getting back on my bike within the first days... I also had my first ride on my new Foes FXR with Hammerschmidt... wooow, schmidt is really the s***!

First day on Utflukt I didn't ride, I took Torkel's place in the Norrøna stand, and lent him my bike. I tried to make the crazy telemark skier promise to be carefull with my new bike... Torkel, Bjørnar and Aslak went out with a go pro cam on Kongsbergs singletracks, and later Torkel showed me the 18 crashes he did on my bike.. made good movie though, even if he cut out like 17 of them...

Fjørå - Part 3 and 4

What to do when you can't ride...

BikePosted by Veronica Mon, August 10, 2009 22:20:38
Today it was back to reality, 11 looong months to next summer vacation... smiley. Since we got back from Morzine we used the chance to do what we never take the time to do back home, like hiking without pushing a bike and boat trips. Sunnmøre have a lot to offer, peaks, fjords and a beautiful coastline... Check out the shots

Not so happy ending...

BikePosted by Veronica Mon, August 10, 2009 00:31:24
The fun ended to early for me in Morzine, after only 4 days of riding and my crash on the river gap in Chatel I had to to take some days of to rest my shoulder that got a pretty hard landing. After a few days of I was ready to ride again, but in some how I managed to fall of my bike in walking speed, in a really not that technical section, and got a fracture in my hand... smiley The last week I didn't have many other options other than shop, hike and work on my tan. But not the worst place to rest, still enjoyed the company of good friends, nice town, cheap wine and cheese that smells like feet... and watch the helli pick up more unlucky riders than me from the steeps woods. "Only" 4 weeks with a cast, just in time to get rid of it until Utflukt in Kongsberg starts. Still lots of great riding to look forward to, specially Fjørå Singletrack Camp that we are arranging first weekend in September here in the west coast alps!

I also had a brand new Foes FXR frame waiting on me back home with ISCG mounting to throw on a set of Hammerschmidt, and all the parts in house...smiley I really, really looking forward to ride it! Had to lend it to Bjørnar a couple of days to let him test the bike, there will be few chances when I get this itchy cast of.... I went with him and did some photo shooting, check out the shots here:

And here...

Back to Morzine

BikePosted by Veronica Fri, July 17, 2009 22:55:52
Last Saturday we arrived Morzine, the weather was super nice and tracks were super dry. Anders Skarpeid arrived Sunday morning, and since Bjørnar's luggage was missing and didn't arrive until late Sunday evening we just spent the day setting up our bikes and drink beer on the lawn. Since Monday we have been riding and testing old and new tracks in Morzine, Les Gets and Chatel. Bjørnar's mission this year was to ride the road gap and the big step up in the super steep tracks in the woods here in Morzine. Anders had to stress him out already the first day with pinning out the road gap... holy shit... the speed and landing was perfect, but the section after was steep and nasty as hell with lots of roots and it scared the shit out of me just looking on his struggle to slow down his speed to avoid a crash in the trees ...

Yesterday Bjørn and Helge joined us with some rented bikes, and we decided to go to Chatel bikepark. Now it was me who had to perform my misson this season. I left Morzine super disappointed last year cause I chickend out on the road gap and river gap in Chatel, this season I had no choice. The road gap was super smooth and I even got some french fans... smiley

The rivergap didn't went that well. I came a bit short on my first attemt and my rear wheel hit the edge so the landing didn't feel smooth. I went back and tried a second time. This time I had enough speed, but landed where the chicken run met the landing and hit a small edge so my wheels washed out and I crashed.. didn't feel smooth that landing either..

Today my shoulder hurts a bit, and the rain is pissing down. I felt for a day of anyway so I'm not stressed out. More pics will be uploaded in this album..
